Dear Metaversalists,
First and foremost, a big thank you to everyone who took the time to complete our survey. We've listened to your feedback and have some exciting changes and updates in the pipeline.
Before we plunge into the curated selection of weekly delights, let me give you a quick update on what’s next at Metaversal:
If you've been following us, you're well aware of our new “Creator’s Monday” series where we feature inspiring work from members of our community and host epic artists and creatives on an X (err, Twitter) Spaces. Next Monday, we’ll have none other than Erick “Snowfro” Calderon of Artblocks and Chromie Squiggles fame. You can set a reminder here.
Now, let’s talk about AI and Art:
Matt Miller, investor and curator at Metaversal, has dedicated years to observing the evolving landscape of contemporary digital art. Presently, he scrutinizes this phenomenon through an academic lens. Below is an abstract from his ongoing study:
Much like photography disrupted visual arts, AI is poised to significantly influence the creative process for artists. The essence of art's importance lies in the narrative behind it and the artist themselves. Historical significance and cultural relevance have always been pivotal in shaping the importance of artworks and specific art movements.
Which artworks will be deemed significant within the AI movement? We posit that works effectively harnessing breakthrough technology early in its lifecycle (e.g., new tools) and holding cultural relevance possess the greatest potential.
As the creation of aesthetically pleasing works becomes more accessible and AI-based generative models grow in sophistication, distinguishing between quality and subpar art, as well as discerning the real from the surreal, will become increasingly challenging
Keep an eye on Metaversal’s social channels to stay updated on this research.
We know you are super updated on your news, and we're sure you can't take any more Elon-grok-gate dramas, but perhaps we can make this selection a bit more interesting:
Art-tech is on fire: Fxhash is making waves as it launches version 2.0 of its platform, krea is exploding, and PIKA unveiled the most advanced AI video tool to date.
Here are our top five newsletters to stay informed about the latest developments in AI:
Sotheby's anticipates a Clara Peeters painting will command $884,000 at auction next month. With only around 40 known works attributed to her, this particular painting has recently resurfaced, remaining absent from published literature until now. Housed in a private collection in Belgium since 1928, it adds a new chapter to the artist's legacy.
Brrr, it's chilly out there. If you've exhausted your movies-to-watch list, why not warm up with some sage advice from the inimitable Wes Anderson?

It’s time to stop buying Twitter ads: X is quite literally telling you it doesn’t care about your brand.
